”A lot of seminars and scientific articles are in English. So, I am keeping up with my job’s evolution better than before.”

Sofia Tsironi has started to learn English in March 2020. We wanted to know more about her motivation to learn English as well as the biggest challenges she faced.

1. How many hours a week do you usually spend on learning English?

”I started with 3 hours a week, but I soon increased them at 6 hours a week for 4 months and now I do 2 hours a week. I finished Level A1 in one month and Level A2 in two months. I hope I will finish level B1, before the end of the year. And now I apply for work and even have interviews in English.”

2. What was your biggest motivation to learn a foreign language?

”I am a midwife and I would like to work in Dubai. This is my Biggest motivation, but speaking and understanding the English language also expands my horizons and my knowledge regarding my science. A lot of seminars and scientific articles are in English. So, I am keeping up with my job’s evolution better than before.”

3. What have been the biggest challenges so far? And how do you overcome obstacles?

”My biggest challenge was to manage to speak the language correctly. At the beginning I couldn’t speak right, but I am very lucky. I have the best teacher, not only at inlingua, but in the whole world. With a lot of patience and a lot of practice I improved my oral skills very fast. The inlingua method has helped me very much.”

4. How do you stay motivated to learn English?

”By focusing on the goal. I am concentrating on the result and I know that the better English I speak the better salary I can ask for. Also I will adjust easier at my new work place and I will be a better colleague for others. All this positive thinking makes me stay motivated to learn English.”
