Pat Beverley blames rap culture for problems Ja Morant is experiencing

Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley thinks bad parents and the current rap culture are the main reasons for Ja Morant’s recent problems.

Morant remains out for the Memphis Grizzlies as he continues to work on himself following the series of controversies he has found himself in. As a reminder, Morant is having several issues after being seen sporting a gun during an Instagram live while at a Denver nightclub and the situation only got worse when photos of him with a stripper from said nightclub were leaked. The Memphis phenom has also been accused of assaulting a teenager during his little sister’s volleyball game.

The Grizzlies guard has since entered a counseling program in Florida before returning to play in the NBA. And while he has received massive criticism for his actions, some could not help but wonder where he went wrong.

And so, when asked to comment on the Morant situation during an interview on Barstool Rundown, Beverley did not hold back as he shared his thoughts on the issue. Aside from the parenting issue, Pat Bev thinks that the Current Rap Culture in which artists continue to sport guns and act like thugs greatly influences Morant and many of today’s younger generation.

THE INTERVIEW.

“He lost his mind…. Parents, parents.” Beverley said on the issue of Morant, per Outkick. “I think music has a lot to do with that now. You know, especially with this culture. Everybody holding a gun in the video is fine. You know, flickering teeth is okay. Half-ass pants, that’s okay. So, everything is okay now. In the past, there was a (bleep) on the beach with a silk shirt saying a little bit of “Yeah, baby, let’s party like it’s the ’80s. Everyone was wearing broken shirts and they were all dressed the same.”

In a great callback to the 1990s, when parents kept reminding their children what they were listening to, Beverley added: “It’s just a product of what we listen to. The culture now is ‘shoot ’em, bang, bang, shoot ’em, bend over, I’ve got this amount of money, I’m on private jets.’ That’s what the younger generation is. Unfortunately, it shouldn’t be based on our music, but it’s mainly based on what we listen to, and it is.”

Patrick Beverley has been supporting Ja Morant ever since the gun scandal and all the other issues related to him began, and he is clearly trying to make sense of what has led to all the controversies he is involved in.
