(iv) He is — clever enough — to understand it.
(v) The police ran — fast enough — to catch the burglar.

13- So + adjective/Adverb + that-clause
Subject + Verb — so + adjective/ adverb — that-clause
(i) He was — so furious — that he couldn’t speak.
(ii) He walked — so quickly — that we couldn’t catch him up.
(iii) I was — so tired — that I couldn’t walk any further.
(iv) It is –so dark — that I can see nothing.

16- Conditionals : type 1 (open condition)
If-clause Simple Present — Main clause Will shall +plain infinitive
(i) If he runs all the time — he can – get there in time.
(ii) If her uncle arrives — she may not come with you.
(iii)If you hit the dog — it will bite you.
(iv) If you study hard — you will get the first class.
(v) If it rains — we shall postpone our picnic.
(vi) If I find the pen — I shall give it to you.
Conditionals of this type describe that something will happen if a specific condition is
fulfilled. The state may or may not be fulfilled.
