The FE Chemical engineering exam is offered throughout the year. Have you picked your slot? Is the date looming somewhere in the near future? This is the perfect set of tips for students about to give the exam. Be well-prepared to give your best shot.
Do not be under-prepared
Do not be under/over-prepared on any Topic. You must allocate enough time for each topic during the exam. There might be a few questions you cannot answer, but make sure this is not because you forgot to study the topic.
Make most of the manual
Students are given the NCEES reference manual during the chemical FE exam. Use it to your advantage. If you were smart while studying, you would have used the manual during your FE chemical practice exam.
If you cannot answer a question, move on. The chemical FE exam is time-based. Spending more than 4 minutes on a question means you are taking time from other questions. Flag it off and come back to it later.
Go back and review
If you have time left over after each session, go through the questions and check to make sure your answers are correct. Even if it is a computer-based exam, you might have made an error in selecting the answer. This is also a good time to go back and look at the questions you could not answer before.
The chemical FE exam is not complicated, but to ace the exam, you must spend 3 months preparing for it.
