Soda Plus Review

Pros: The Soda Plus is made of stainless steel, allowing it to last for several years. It is also dishwasher friendly.

Cons: The seal on the Soda Plus wears out relatively quickly and is proprietary. Replacements are not sold at this time.

What Is the Soda Plus?

The Soda Plus is a portable soda maker consisting of a Stainless Steel Bottle and a proprietary charging handle which you plug CO2 cartridges into. It is highly portable and does not require electricity or batteries of any kind.

Despite its high quality, the Soda Plus is a relatively affordable home carbonation device(usually sold for around $60).

In-Depth Soda Plus Review

The Soda Plus makes it easy for you to create your own soda at home, in the park or on the road. All you have to do is fill the stainless steel bottle, screw the charging cap into place, fit the CO2 cartridge into a holder that locks into the charging cap, shake the bottle 5-10 times, and push the pressure valve to release pressure.

The Soda Plus is capable of turning virtually any liquid into soda, whereas most home carbonation systems only work with water. It also produces a higher level of carbonation than other systems, especially other portable systems. Some customers have complained that it actually produces too much fizz, but for many it’s a relief after trying other systems that don’t produce enough.

Another feature that makes the Soda Plus stand out from the crowd is its ability to work with generic CO2 canisters. More and more home carbonation machines are being designed to only use expensive proprietary CO2 cartridges, so this allows you to save a small fortune over the life of the Soda Plus (you can pick up canisters in bulk for $0.34 each from Amazon).

Unfortunately there have been some issues with the proprietary seal breaking after only a moderate amount of use. There isn’t much you can do about this if it happens, but it isn’t a very common issue.

The other issue some customers have is that carbonated beverages made with the Soda Plus don’t remain fizzy very long. This is usually caused by an issue with the seal, rather than another defect in the Soda Plus system.

Overall Thoughts On The Soda Plus

The Soda Plus does make it easy to turn almost anything into a carbonated drink, in any location you can think of, but it doesn’t have a particularly long lifespan compared to other soda machines. If you want something highly portable that carbonates a wide variety of beverages, you’re likely better off buying a Purefizz Soda Maker instead.
