People say that you have to be grateful for what you have because a lot of people in this world might not have something but are still grateful and doing what they love to do.

Today we present you a personality who is an amputee but also a model and who overcame all her obstacles but it isn’t with us, meaning let’s get to know all about Cacsmy Brutus’s life and the reason for her end in this world.

All About Mama Cax; An Advocate For Disability Rights

Cacsmy Brutus, also referred to as Mama Cax, was a Haitian-American model and advocate for disabled rights who passed away on December 16, 2019.

Cax was an uncommon character in contemporary fashion modeling due to her prosthetic right leg. She obtained international relations bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Cax began playing wheelchair basketball when he was 18 years old.

On November 20, 1989, Cacsmy Brutus was born in Brooklyn, New York City. She was born and raised in Haiti, and at the age of 14, physicians discovered that she had lung cancer and osteosarcoma. They gave her three weeks to survive.

She had a hip replacement two years later, but it didn’t work, and her right leg had to be amputated as a result. She later recalled that she had to hide her prosthetic leg for several years before she was able to restore her confidence.

Even After The Struggles She Mad A Career For Herself

She also was very active in all kind of activities and decided that she’ll make the most out of it. That is the reason she participated in handcycling competition in 2019 held in New York.

Beginning of Her Modelling Career

Barack and Michelle Obama invited Cax to the White House on September 15, 2016, to take part in a fashion presentation. She was finishing her education at the time and working with Dhiren Raja at the Mayor of New York City’s office.

Cax made her debut in a commercial in 2017 and soon after joined the New York modelling firm JAG Models. She appeared in shows for Chromat and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty, among other things. She later worked on advertisements for Sephora and Tommy Hilfiger.

Becca McCharen, a fashion designer who aims to alter “standards of beauty,” created the swimsuit she was wearing when she walked the runway at New York Fashion Week in 2018. She was on the Teen Vogue cover that year alongside Jillian Mercado and Chelsea Werner.

Cax was admitted to the Royal London Hospital in England in December 2019 for severe abdominal pain and blood clots in the lung, which were later diagnosed as pulmonary embolism. She passed away there on December 16, 2019.

What Legacy She Left Behind?

Cax received recognition on February 8, 2023, as part of Black History Month. Google makes history by giving a tribute to Cax via making the above doodle.

We Thank The Google Doodle today to honor Haitian American model and disability rights activist Mama Cax in recognition of Black History Month. Mama Cax, illustrated by Brooklyn-based guest illustrator Lyne Lucien, is well renowned for challenging conventional notions of beauty.

On her prosthetic limb, which was frequently decorated with colours and patterns, the model and activist triumphantly sauntered down catwalks.
