Who is Sugarland?

American country music duet Sugarland was established in Atlanta, Georgia. Lead vocalist Jennifer Nettles and songwriter Kristian Bush make up the combo (vocals, guitar, mandolin). At the time of their founding in 2002, Kristen Hall (vocals, guitar) was also a part of the group.

All three had previous folk-rock recording credits: Hall had released two solo albums, Bush had released two albums as part of the duet Billy Pilgrim, and Nettles had done so with the band Soul Miner’s Daughter and Jennifer Nettles Band. Hall left in 2006, and Nettles and Bush carried on as a pair.

What Happened Between The Three That Resulted In A Split?

Unexpectedly, Kristen Hall left the band in December 2005. Bush and Nettles concurred with Hall’s intention to “stay home and write music” as the justification for her departure.

Less than three years after leaving Sugarland, Hall sued Bush and Nettles for $14 million in July 2008, claiming that she was not being included in the profit-sharing arrangements that were made after her departure.

Hall claims to have come up with the band’s name and granted Bush and Nettles “equal co-ownership of the trademark and service mark” and her signature can be found on the “Sugarland” trademark. Nettles and Bush had both responded to Hall by claiming that the pair had not entered into a profit-sharing agreement.

What Happened To Bush And Nettles After The Spilt?

Even After they spilt, the two members from the group still kept making music and kept the country spirit alive. there are a lot of milestones that both of them reached together:

The song “Something More” at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards on February 8, 2006. They were nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy.

They gave a performance at the 2006 CMT Music Awards, where they were nominated for a number of awards, including Group/Duo Video of the Year, Breakthrough Video of the Year for Something More, and Collaborative Video of the Year for Who Says You Can’t Go Home.

The duo’s second album, Enjoy the Ride, was released on November 7th, 2006. It debuted at No. 2 on the Top Country Albums chart and No. 4 on the US Top 200 after selling 211,000 copies in its first week. After selling three million copies, it went on to become their second album to receive multi-platinum status.

With All The Success And Fame, Are They Still Together?

YES, the band is still together and are ready for the 2023 tour. There were a lot of tumbles in the dynamics like in the year 2010-11 both the artists went on hiatus and then started with individual projects. They began their self-imposed, indefinite break.

Nettles was expecting, and she wanted to work on other things after giving baby. Bush had then recently finalized a divorce. While he was overcome, songs of hope kept playing in his thoughts. That’s where after 5 long years both of them came together for themselves and their fans!
