Molori Safari Lodge
Molori is without question up there with the most luxurious Lodges in the reserve (and South Africa for that matter), modern design, modern interiors, large swimming pools, large and private suites, a stunning spa and gym, a really large telescope (for spotting those stars and planets at night) and a guest list that will make most Hollywood hotels blush. Molori has a sister lodge in Cape Town that perfectly compliments that South Africa bush and beach Safari option. If it is exclusivity that you are after then this is the lodge experience for you.
Tau Game Lodge
Tau is a great addition to the portfolio for the great pricing and conference options that are available. One of the larger lodges in the Madikwe with +- 30 odd suites, Tau is great for larger groups of travellers and/ or large corporate groups looking to get into the bush for a safari getaway. The waterhole in front of the lodge is a sight to behold, a constant stream of wildlife and birdlife will keep one occupied for hours on end.
Jaci’s Tree Lodge
Tree Lodge at Jaci’s is a destination that we at Uyaphi hold very dear to our hearts, Jaci and her team offer that real feeling of true African hospitality – there are no false smiles anywhere. Jaci’s comprises of two lodges (Tree and Safari), where safari lodge is more family oriented and Tree is more adult oriented (although families are also most welcome a Tree). The aspect of Tree lodge that we loved was the birding, walking along those raised walkways there are birds everywhere, if you into birding then look no further.
Tuningi Safari Lodge
Tuningi is one of those special lodges not often found in in the safari world, this lodge is more geared towards families than pretty much any other lodge that we know of. One of the main reasons families love the Madikwe is not only because of the spectacular wildlife but that simple fact that the reserve is MALARIA FREE (unlike the Kruger and Natal reserves). Okay back onto Tuningi – with the kids’ programmes on offer there is no need for parents to compromise their safari options, dedicated staff and activities will keep the little ones busy for hours (whilst allowing parents to get some private safari time safe in the knowledge that the little ones are safe, having fun and learning). Children over five are welcome on game drives, whilst children under five are taken out on their own little safaris.
Thakadu River Camp
Thakadu offers up fantastic tented accommodation at great rates. This community-owned and operated lodge is position on the banks of the Marico River in the North of the Madikwe Reserve, a lodge where one can see the pride on the staff’s face as they offer up fantastic service and wildlife experiences. Thakadu is a must for those birders out there amongst us, Marico River offers Fish Eagle, Kingfisher, Barbets and literally 100’s of other species right from your tented suite.
Madikwe Hills Game Lodge
Madikwe Hills is all about luxury, luxury and more luxury at what has to be regarded as very reasonable rates, to put that statement into perspective – if this lodge was in the Kruger, Okavango, Serengeti regions (to mention only a few) one would be looking at at least double the rates. So we have a luxury lodge in one of the best wildlife reserves in Southern Africa coming in at an exceptional rate, we at Uyaphi.com are like hello – what are you waiting for. Oh and almost forgot, Madikwe Hills is in the middle of the reserve thus giving visitors a huge game drive advantage over other lodges situated on the borders of the reserve (your game drive distances are shorter whilst driving from sighting to sighting).
Makanyane Safari Lodge
Lastly but certainly not leastly (yeah that is not even word ) we have Makanyane. Probably the most private of all the lodge in the region, Makanyane is set on a private stretch of land bordering (yet open to) the Madikwe Reserve with full transversing rights. So in a nutshell, you get a private, small, luxurious and intimate lodge on private land with full access to the all the wildlife and birdlife that the Madikwe has to offer. Sometime one does not even leave the private reserve as wildlife is so plentiful, so bumping into another game drive vehicle is certainly not likely. Do we recommend Makanyane? Oh yes, oh yes and another Oh yes.
