REVEL GEAR out of Boulder, Colorado, sent me a note about a Kickstarter project that excites me, and I thought it very worthy of sharing. Dubbed “The Future of Portable Power and Light,” this is a campaign to launch a couple new products – a solar powered Revel LIGHT strand perfect for stringing around camp, around the back porch, or around your tent. Revel is also launching the Night Owl Solar Pack, perfect for charging the electronics we all can’t seem to go without while outdoors (me included). Both harness the power of sunlight to charge and fuel your fun and your memories outside.
I’m a recent convert to solar products for the outdoors. On my recent Missouri River canoe trip, I was introduced to the MPOWERD Luci Lantern, and I loved it. Kept our intense games of “Duizend,” Dutch for 1000, and played like the game 1,000.
This Kickstarter campaign is off to a great start, but it still needs funding. Here are some product profiles from their Kickstarter page:
The REVEL GEAR™ Night Owl™ Solar Pack converts solar energy into stored energy meaning you’ll never have to leave your electronics charging under the hot sun again.
It also includes 2 USB ports that allow you to charge two devices at once. In order to protect our Solar Pack on rugged terrain, we designed a snap-on case that fits comfortably around its battery. When you’re ready to power up, a carabiner and four paracord attachment points provide simple mounting solutions for a variety of stationary or on-the-go scenarios.
The REVEL LIGHT™ is a portable 30ft. light strand designed to make your outdoor adventures shine even brighter.
Light is emitted from 100 LED diodes that are evenly spaced across a pliable, 30 foot conductive wire. To eliminate the risk of wire kinks and breakage, each strand is insulated with a flexible epoxy coating that also provides protection from rain, snow, dirt, and whatever else Mother Nature throws your way.
Check out for yourself the REVEL GEAR story and how the company is working toward providing 1 million solar-powered lights to developing countries.
