I can’t believe it took me this long to visit the pretty pastel coastal town of Aldeburgh! The Suffolk town is a little seaside sanctuary, just over an hour away from Norwich, making it the perfect weekend getaway from busy city life.
We headed down for a couple of nights during October half term with my sister’s family. The weather was still pleasant, and it was a lovely way to end the warmer months before my Winter hibernation mode kicks in.
We discovered a gorgeous 3-bedroom House on Airbnb, perfect for two small families. Upon arrival, we collected our keys from a key safe at the front of the property and let ourselves in. The house was extremely clean and bright and we felt at home immediately. The décor was very contemporary, tasteful and fresh throughout.
After unpacking and a quick cuppa, we headed out to explore the local area. We found that the house was only a few minutes’ walk from the main seaside strip with a great variety of cafes, fish and chip shops and gifts shops to discover.
Later, we watched the beautiful sunset along the seafront, then enjoyed some delicious dinner from Aldeburgh Fish & Chips (recommended as the best in Aldeburgh).
The next day, we cooked a full English breakfast at the house then did a spot of shopping at the local shops. The kids loved all the random toys and gadgets they managed to get their hands on.
We enjoyed some yummy American pancakes for lunch at Chopping’s Hill Cafe & Bakery which is situated around the corner from our Airbnb, then headed back to the house for a chilled afternoon of Netflix (the house has a Chromecast available to use). It was such a luxury to be able to head back to the house, pop the kettle on and enjoy a good film. The house was so cosy, warm and welcoming, we could have happily stayed in all weekend! On our final evening, we popped to Prezzo on our final evening.
After another glorious sleep in our comfy beds, we checked out at 11am and took a drive to Southwold for a quick wonder before heading home. All in all we had a fabulous few days away and felt surprisingly refreshed!
