SummerFest is back to Central Harbourfront

This year, the same event organizer, Central Venue Management (CVM), is going to turn the Central Harbourfront Event Space (CHES) into a large playground providing more than 25 free events and activities for the public to enjoy. The three themes of this major summer programme in the city are: Action, Lifestyle, and Social.

The 10-day SummerFest Action will bring a number of alternative sporting activities to town. It will kick off on July 14 2017 (Friday) at the CHES with Netball Fever followed by the signature event – Youth SportsFest on July 15 and 16. SummerFest Lifestyle will take place from 12 to 27 August 2017. Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council will be responsible for the promotion of balance diet and physical health, exercise and music therapy, expression of artistic treatment, beliefs and mental health activities.The details of SummerFest Lifestyle and SummerFest Social will be released soon. Netball Fever@SummerFest Action

Netball Fever is the opening event of SummerFest Action co-organised by the Hong Kong Netball Association. You may not know that Hong Kong team is ranked 25th globally at present. All visitors are welcomed to try some netball-related activities and have netball competitions under the supervision of staff member. Participants could watch netball matches and enter a photo competition to win some prizes.

Youth SportsFest

Youth SportsFest is co-organised by eight sports associations and Backyard Roots. It aims to expand the horizons of the young people aged 8-16 who can take part in any of the games and training workshops managed by professional coaches. The highlighted sports are: baseball, lacrosse, cricket, floor curling, weightlifting, American football, lion dance, kin-ball, as well as floor hockey and bocce ball, both of which are featured at the Special Olympics.

SummerFest Action Programme Schedule

The CHES has housed many events such as the AIA Carnival, Art Central, Lai Yuen Super Summer 2015, Clockenflap, FIA Formula E Hong Kong ePrix and Dragonland Music Festival etc.
