When in Thailand: A Day in Patong Beach

During our seven-day Southeast Asian cruise, we had a stopover in Thailand. It was my first time in this country. Honestly, I had a little doubt because it rained that night on our way from Malaysia to Thailand. But when the ship passed by the picturesque mountain and sea on that bright sunny day, everything ended up with a huge smile and told myself that: "it's gonna be a splendid day."
Since the cruise ship was too big for the seashore, we had to take a smaller boat to get to Patong Beach, a tourist attraction in Phuket, Thailand. It is said to be the center of water activities, shopping, and nightlife. It's located at the west coast of Phuket.
The beach was swarmed by Europeans who were sunbathing all day!
In December 2004, it was one of the beaches that was badly hit by the great tsunami. But everything seems back to normal now and warning signs are everywhere.

Meanwhile, crossing the street showed us the shopping centers and restaurants. It was a pretty busy area that somehow reminded me of either Boracay or Puerto Galera back in the Philippines.
Of course, visiting Thailand won't be complete without seeing a tuktuk, a three-wheeler public transportation that's popular not only in Thailand but also in other countries especially in Asia.

This public bus looks old school but funky cool!

What amazed were the delicious fresh fruits of Patong Beach! I can eat them all! How I wish I could bring some inside the ship, but bringing fresh food wasn't allowed.
But I still ended up shopping for other things from shirts, to spicy food, to all other little souvenirs from this country.

Kob kun ka, Thailand!
