Colorado - Breckenridge

This is my third posting about Colorado.  The past ones were biking down mountains, Copper Mountain and wine tasting.  This posting is about Breckenridge.  It is a wonderful ski town small enough to walk with lots of hotels, restaurants, skiing, hiking and Bike paths.  The hotel we stayed at was the Valdoro.

The Valdoro It was an RCI timeshare trade.  We like it a lot.  There are hot tubs, a pool, grills, exercise room, massage, video game and lounge.  It even has it's own bike shop which comes in hand because biking in the summer is a great way to see the countryside.

There is a bike path from the Breckenridge gondola to Frisco.  In this direction, there is a slight downhill drop.   However, right before Frisco, there is a steep hill.  You'll see it in the video.

In Frisco, there is a bus stop behind the Walmart.  Here you'll find a free bus back to Breckenridge.  The bus can carry three bikes.  Getting one or two spots is tough in the afternoon.  Best to do your bike ride first thing in the morning.  We had a car so we typically had one of us ride the bus back to Breckenridge to get the car.

During the summer, the Breckenridge gondola is free along with parking next to the gondola. You are never very high off the ground but it is worth the effort to ride it at least once.  At one point, you ride over a nature reserve.  If you are lucky you'll see a moose.
