Nestled in the shadow of London’s iconic Gherkin, Swingers is a slick underground crazy golf course. The venue is complete with two 9-hole courses, five bars and three delicious food vendors. It’s the perfect all-in-one venue for a date in the City of London.

We headed there on a Double date and started the night off with a few drinks nearby in the good ol’ Slug and Lettuce; I know what you’re thinking, The Slug, Really??? We would have begun in The Alchemist which is a bit more upmarket, but it was packed to the rafters and getting served would have taken all night.

After a few swifties, we headed over to Swingers and descended down to the riotous clubhouse. On a side note, watch out, the stairs can be deadly when wet, whilst waiting to check in, we saw three people slip down and hurt themselves. Ain’t nobody got time for a bruised butt or ego on a date.

After a short queue to check in and get a tee-off time, we found ourselves in the clubhouse bar, with the staff wearing the the most gaudy Hawaiian shirts imaginable – all part of the experience. At first, there was not much room, however as people went off to start their tournament we soon found space and ordered some snacks from DF / Mexico though we could have got something from Pizza pilgrims or Patty & Bun.

When our tee-time came we met the friendly hostess at the start of the course who gave us the Swingers ground rules; after that it was tee-off time.

The courses aren’t the ‘craziest’ of London’s mini golf, but they are the best kept and most stylish with a decent variety of obstacles to keep you entertained – including a loop-the-loop and a sand trap!

If there’s just two of you, expect a short wait behind larger groups as you go round. Four is a good number of players as even though it was busy we only experienced a very minor wait behind the group of six in front of us. Plus, we got to talk shit about the members in our group and compare to the other teams. It made us feel not too bad about our general lack of skills.

Swingers is a great date for any occasion but especially first dates and double dates.

Some suggestions for afterwards are to either stay on in one of the Swingers’ bars or head to the nearby, low-lit speakeasy Discount Suit Company for some cocktails.
