2013-2014 Winter Fun!

We know that you are coming to Jackson Hole to ski at the Number One Ski Resort in North America, to view the Tetons and her wildlife from the back of snowmobile, snowshoe through Bridger Teton National Forest, and cap off your day with night skiing at Snow King Mountain and après at Hayden’s Post. Yet there may be a little extra time here or there when you want to enjoy some local fun. Below are just some of the activities that will be occurring throughout the winter season. New and exciting opportunities are constantly being added so be sure to contact our concierge team to hear about the latest and greatest.

Reoccurring Events:

Mondays: 

  • 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Hootenanny at Dornans in Moose. Local Musicians take the stage to perform for those dining and drinking at Dornans. Every Monday December 2nd through March 31st.

Tuesdays: 

  • 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Acoustic Open Mic Jam Night at Hayden’s Post. Every Tuesday from January 7 to March 25. At Hayden’s Post, inside Snow King Hotel. 

Wednesdays: 

  • 7:00pm to 10:00pm. BINGO! All Proceeds go towards scholarships for local high school seniors. Every Wednesday through April. At the Elks Lodge.

November 22
9:00am. Opening Day for Grand Targhee Resort. Come celebrate another Teton winter season with all of us at Grand Targhee Resort. Enjoy great opening day and finish the day off at the first Après of the year at The Trap Bar & Grill. At Grand Targhee Resort. 

November 22 to 23
7:30pm to 9:00pm Jackson Hole Moose Hockey vs. Salt Lake.  The Jackson Hole Moose Hockey team is a nonprofit organization that competes in the Senior A Division of the U.S.A. Hockey Association. The competition level is full to check hockey with no holds barred action. All games feature live music from some of Jackson’s most talented local musicians as well as food, snacks and your favorite adult beverages. At Snow King Sports & Events Center. 

November 23
11:00am to 1:30pm. Holiday Bazaar. Silent auction, fresh greens (get your wreath here and help a good cause), huge bake sale (think Thanksgiving), vendors, soup and salad lunch.  At Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. 

6:00pm and 9:00pm Storm Show presents “Frosty Flakes.” The flakes are falling fast and piling high in Storm Show's 13th annual ski/ride/adrenaline film, "Frosty Flakes."  Veteran producers Darrell Miller and Ryan Halverson have brought to the table a deliciously tasty serving of big mountain lines and powdery entertainment that's sure to leave your mouth watering for winter '14.  This year they’re sending it bigger than ever and bringing you more hard to hitting, action to packed, must to see shredding from the Jackson Hole backcountry and beyond! At the Center for the Arts. 

November 27
6:00pm. Menorah Lighting. Light the Menorah, sing songs and celebrate the first night of Chanukah. Open to the public, a great learning experience for the diverse crowd that participates. At the Four Seasons.

November 28
8:45am. 21st annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot Race. For this traditional 5 to k event, walkers start at 8:45 a.m. followed by runners at 9 a.m. Following the run, Lil' Gobblers event takes place in the recreation center parking lot for ages 10 and younger. Bring canned goods to donate to local charities. Around Town. 

9:00am. Opening Day for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. 

November 29
1:00pm Holiday Passport. Come out and shop local this holiday season. 15 Jackson Hole Businesses celebrate Black Friday and Small Business Saturday with a 2 week shopping event! Visit any participating business and grab your Passport, collect stamps as you shop for the holidays, and when you reach 6 stamps you can enter to win over $2500 worth of prizes! Around Town.

2:00 to 4:00pm 2nd Annual JHSSF .22 Caliber Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot!  (No turkeys will be injured, it’s all target shooting.)Shoot don't shop! Bring your 22 and your safety gear and your family and come have a great time! At the Jackson Hole Gun Club. 

5:00 to 7:00pm Jackson Hole Town Square Lighting. Thousands of LED bulbs will be wrapped around the famous elk antler arches and strung around the stately trees. The lighting of the Town Square is a breathtaking moment as the bulbs sparkle to life. Children and families delight at the arrival of Santa Claus who enters with a team of sled dogs from Jackson Hole Iditarod. A special group of volunteers from Dancers' Workshop will be assisting Santa and the children hoping to visit with him and Teton Literacy Center will provide free books to children of all ages. November 30
8:00am Small Business Saturday. Between Black Friday and Cyber Monday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses nationwide. Last year, over one hundred million people came together to Shop Small in their communities on Small Business Saturday. Around Town. 

4:00pm. Snow Peep Show. After last year's inaugural bash, we're looking forward to this gear preview and fashion show in Teton Village, to benefit Teton County Search and Rescue. At the Four Seasons.

7:00pm and 9:00pm Sweetgrass Productions presents Valhalla. Valhalla, Sweetgrass Productions’ fourth feature film, is the tale of one man’s search to rediscover the freedom of his youth. Feeling the distant heat of it’s fire still burning in the mountains of the frozen north, he goes in search of those tending the flame—the untamed, the wild, and the outcast dwelling on the fringe. Weaving narrative to driven style with award to winning, face to melting backcountry ski and snowboard cinematography; Valhalla is a vivid explosion of color, character, snow, and nostalgic soul. At the Pink Garter Theater. 

December 1
1:00pm to 3:00pm. Chanukah on Ice. Open ice skating, skating games for children, families and adults, hot potato Latkes, chocolate Chanukah gelt, sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), free Menorah kits, delicious salads and more. There will be a Center rink menorah lighting ceremony. At the Snow King Sports and Events Center. 

December 4
5:30pm to 6:30pm. Teton Village Menorah Lighting. Celebrate the last night of Chanukah by lighting the menorah, singing Chanukah songs and hearing the story of Chanukah. The event symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness, goodness over indecency and freedom over oppression. Treats such as hot potato latkes, doughnuts filled with jelly (sufganiyot) and chocolate Chanukah gelt will be served while menorahs and dreidels (spinning tops) will be available for all. 

December 6
6:00pm to 7:00pm Snow King Mountain Ski School Cocktail Reception. Meet and Greet with Snow King Ski School General Manager and Ski Instructors, enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and $1.00 Draft Beers. At Hayden’s Post, in Snow King Hotel. 

6:00pm. 22nd Annual Powder Pig GTK9 Avy Dog Fundraiser. GTK9 is completely supported through donations and 100% of the proceeds from this event will go toward training, veterinary care, courses and food for our team of avalanche dogs. All of our GTK9 dogs are certified to international standards by their handlers and tested annually.  At Tony’s Pizza & Pasta in Driggs.

December 7
8:00am to 3:00pm 12th Annual Christmas Bazaar. An annual event with 40+ vendors.  From beautiful handmade crafts to great gifts of all kinds, this event gets bigger and better every year.  Food, music, drawings, and a visit from Santa from 12pm to 1pm makes this one of the best Christmas Bazaars in the region. At the Presbyterian Church of Jackson Hole.

9:00am – 4:00pm Jackson Hole Art Association’s Christmas Bazaar. Support the Jackson Hole Art Association and Local Artists at the Christmas Bazaar. At the Snow King Sports and Events Center.

December 8
11:30am to 2:30pm. 28th Annual Christmas Tree Festival. Soroptimist hosts festive event with champagne brunch and live and silent auctions. If you have never skied the King, December 14th is your day to get out and taste what our mountain has to offer.  Snow King is kicking off the 75th Anniversary season with a free ski day for the general public.  Bring your friends, family, and neighbors out for a day of fun on the slopes followed by an afternoon/evening of music.  Snake River Brewing’s forthcoming Snow King Pale Ale will be flowing, come out and celebrate with us. 8:00pm. 1964 The Tribute: Beatles. The Tribute takes their audiences on a musical journey to an era in rock history that will live in all of our hearts forever. They are hailed by critics and fans alike as the most authentic and endearing Beatles tribute in the world. At the Pink Garter Theater.

4:00pm. The Princess & the Pea: A Fragmented Fairytale. Dancers' Workshop presents an original adaptation of "The Princess and the Pea," a classic fairytale embellished and reinvented, told through the art of dance. At the Center for the Arts. 

December 21
4:45pm. Santa’s Arrival in Teton Village. Greet Santa at the base of the tram as he makes his way into Teton Village from above. Santa Claus will be meeting the children at the outside deck of the Teton Club after his arrival. Everyone is welcome! At Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

4:50pm Glow Worm Kid’s Ski Parade. Young skiers are welcome to join in this Teton Village New Year's tradition, which substitutes glowsticks for torchlights in a ski parade at dusk. If you are able to ski Teewinot confidently and are under age 14, we'd love for you to participate! (Younger kids will do a shorter parade via snowmobile before older kids ski from the top of Teewinot.) The parade is free, and you don't need to sign up in advance. Meet at the JHMR Kids Ranch at the Cody House at 4:50, dressed and ready to head up  to  no poles please! Bring your parents along to watch the parade at 5:30, and stay for the torchlight and fireworks show that follows. At Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. 

5:30pm to 7:30pm and 8:30pm to 2014! (two seatings) New Year’s Eve Dinner at Hayden’s Post. NPR host and creator of This American Life, Glass will talk about his radio program and how it's put together: what makes a compelling story, where they find the amazing stories for their show, how he and his staff are trying to push broadcast journalism to do things it doesn't usually do. During his talk, Glass will mix stories from the show, live onstage, combining his narration with pre to taped quotes and music, recreating the sound of the show as the audience watches. 7:00 to 10:30pm The Met: Live Verdi’s Falstaff. An undisputed master of Falstaff, Music Director James Levine conducts Verdi's opera for the first time at the Met since 2005. Robert Carsen's production to the first new Met Falstaff since 1964 to is set in the English countryside in the mid to 20th century. Ambrogio Maestri (last season's Dulcamara in the Opening Night production of L'Elisir d'Amore) sings the title role of the brilliant and blustery Sir John Falstaff, opposite a marvelous ensemble that includes Angela Meade, Stephanie Blythe, Lisette Oropesa, and Franco Vassallo. 8:00pm. Tribal Seeds & Through the Roots. Tribal Seeds' unmatched musical talent and authentic sound has brought them to the forefront of the reggae rock genre, as their art form has reached people of all ages across the United States, and worldwide. Through the Roots have been covering ground and making waves across the United States. Fusing rock and electronic elements with a strong roots reggae foundation, Through the Roots have developed a unique sound and experience that captivates audiences during their live performances. At the Center for the Arts. 

January 23
6:00pm to 8:00pm. Last of the First Skiers to an evening with Mark Jenkins from National Geographic & the University of Wyoming. The Kazakh and Tuvan tribesmen of the region use the skis to hunt elk. Guns are illegal, so they lasso the beasts from their skis to  to  to a primordial tableau that is depicted in local petroglyphs dating from 5000 to 12,000 BP.  National Geographic writer Mark Jenkins lived and hunted with these extraordinary skiers last winter.  Jenkins will present a program exploring the last enclave of prehistoric skiing, its links to the modern global ski culture, and the profound adaptability of humankind in an increasingly globalized world. At the Center for the Arts.

All Day. Club Series #3, SL. The Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard “Club Series” is a time to honored annual competition that features challenging courses and draws over 150 competitors of all ages, from throughout the region. At Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

9:00pm. Keller Williams. Being a Keller Williams fan means being ready for anything—trying to guess where this omnivorous artist will head next might be fun but chances are good you won't even come close. In the past three years alone Williams has recorded an album of eclectic cover tunes with the Keels (Thief), a children's record (Kids), the bass to centric and appropriately titled Bass, a bluegrass set with the Travelin' McCourys (Pick) and a Grateful Dead tribute project on which he played piano exclusively(Keys). At the Pink Garter Theater. 

February 9
9:00pm. IRATION: AUTOMATIC WINTER TOUR Natural Vibrations, The Movement. The islands of Hawaii are not only the biggest influence on Iration's sound they are home to all of its members. Iration was born from a love of all types of music and a desire to create something new. Elements of Reggae, Rock, and Pop are mixed with keyboard/synth and melodic vocal lines to create something truly unique. Iration is best heard in a live setting where you can truly experience the full spectrum of their range. At the Pink Garter Theater. 

February 14
7:00 to 11:00pm The Met: Live Dvo?ák's Rusalka. The great Renée Fleming returns to one of her signature roles, singing the enchanting “Song to the Moon” in Dvorák’s soulful fairy to tale opera. Tenor Piotr Beczala co to stars as the Prince, Dolora Zajick is Jezibaba, and dynamic young maestro Yannick Nézet to Séguin is on the podium. At the Center for the Arts. 

February 14 to 16
All Day. Jackson Hole Youth Hockey - Squirt B Tournament. At Snow King Sports and Events Center.
