11.2.2017 - IT WAS THE FIFTEEN DAY OF CHINESE NEW YEAR, also known as Chap Goh Mei in Hokkien dialect According to history, yesterday was the 15th of the lunar new year and the last day of Chinese New Year which was also known as the "Lantern Festival" and Chinese Valentine's day. On this Chinese Valentine's day, it is known to connect Chap Goh Mei with the traditional myth of young unmarried ladies throwing mandarin oranges incribed with names and telephone numbers into rivers in search of a boyfriend then husband. Till this day, I wonder whether this is still being done traditionally or just for fun so as to keep the myth going on and on. :)
As for me and my family, we went out for a scrumptious dinner to mark the end of CNY... A Big Thank You to the dear member of the family who generously gave this dinner treat at one of the prestigious restaurant in Johor here. The venue is Loon Sing Restaurant and it was the first visit for me and my kids to this place to mark this auspicious day. Our dinner started around 8.30pm and ended two hours later.....
Not sure about the price but easily a four digit gua..
