Well, while mum has been keeping busy with all of the lovely visitors to Cooks Green Cottage, my lack of posting on here has been because of the launch of my own site, Ethical Revolution.
Ethical Revolution is a platform that hopes to help in the bringing of ethical goods and services firmly in to the mainstream. At present most ethical products and services are more expensive than their mainstream alternatives, and with no let up of hard times for ordinary folk, paying more for similar goods just isn’t viable for many.
That’s where I come in – I track down all of the deals (offers/voucher codes/freebies etc.) that ethical companies promote, and I publicise them on my website, with a summary via my fortnightly newsletter.
By creating a hub for all of the money saving deals, I aim to enable people to shop with a conscience without having to affect their budget.
I also have an ethical directory of green businesses which is growing every week.
The site is still in beta mode while I build up more links with ethical businesses, which means new features are still being added, so keep checking back to see what’s new.
You mentioned Eco Toursim?
Ah yes, each section on the site has it’s own feed that you can subscribe to, so if you’re interested in only one category, e.g. Eco Tourism, then you can subscribe to the RSS feed for that section to receive an alert whenever a new deal is added to the Eco Tourism section. Nifty, huh?! I chose the Eco Tourism category as an example because that’s obviously related to Cooks Green Cottage, but a section such as Groceries has a much higher turnover of great deals at present.
Oh, and I should add that many of the things that you’ll find when you visit Cooks Green Holiday Cottage – appliance, treats in the welcome pack etc. have all been bought by my mum via the money-saving links on the Ethical Revolution website.
I hope you like the project and hope you can forgive me for neglecting the article writing for Cooks Green Cottage over the last year as a result!
