Why do some people love Road trips? Probably because it is about the journey. The act of being in your car, not having to rush and seeing the sights is all part of the adventure. The destination is only one facet of the entire Trip. This is more than just about saving money or a fear of flying. Road trips are a whimsical form of travel that leaves an imprint on everyone who experiences this form of sightseeing. So, let’s continue with why road trips should be celebrated.
Lots of fun and quirky pit stops
I must admit, I love eating at truck stops. How can you not? They are a testament to a previous age, and many of them serve the most wonderful comfort food you’ve ever had. The only time I ever eat at truck stops is when I’m on a road trip. And, the people watching is fantastic. Yet, there are other stops: The Waffle House. Cracker Barrel. Gas station convenience stores.
Forget about eating kale and plain baked chicken every day. On road trips, all foods are viable options. Eat that fast food burger. Have a huge breakfast platter. Munch on chips and cookies. If you’re gonna do it, you might as well do it on your road trip. This is the time when you can eat anything you want!
If you’re sitting on a plane, you’re stuck viewing clouds. While that isn’t a bad thing. you can get more riveting entertainment on a road trip. You just never know what you’re going to see next. It could be a gorgeous farm, an amusing sign, a classic car or even the mountains. It’s like a human safari so, keep a camera on hand.
You should explore your country
If you’ve always traveled by plane, chances are you’ve only seen a small portion of your country. If you need help deciding where to go, you should check out Outdoorsy’s list of travel destinations such as the locations visited during a three-month, epic road trip. This is about visiting off-the-beaten-path destinations.
Go to North Carolina for some barbecue, relax on a sandy Florida beach and check out the skyline in New York city. Your country is a lot more diverse and entertaining than you realize. Driving across the country makes you appreciate your home even more.
Even with GPS, you should make unscheduled stops along the way. You can’t know everything about a place unless you see it first-hand. All the research in the world can’t tell you everything about a city or town unless you actually go through it. There are so many amazing destinations just waiting for you to discover them. Are you ready?
Taking a road trip isn’t about killing time, it’s about enjoying the views on the way to your final destination. This is about exploring new towns and cities, as well as gas station convenience stores. You get to have an adventure and eat anything you want. What could be better than that?
