Gone are the days of paying a fortune for great looking Hair, the demand for Cheap Human Dreadlock extensions has grown so much that the prices have dropped without losing the quality
Prices vary but you can now buy good quality human hair at fairly low cost, there are many different types and methods to extend your dreadlock extensions, going to a salon will be the most expensive, it is possible to learn to apply them as I have done myself and this will work out a lot cheaper, how long your new look will last is largely dependent on the quality and type of hair you buy and how you look after them.
types and quality of hair differ, Synthetic hair is probably the cheapest you will find but personally I do not recommend using it as it is basically plastic fibers and will not match the look and feel of your natural hair, after going to the trouble of having extensions fitted you want them to look their best for as long as possible, the best material to compare this with is a child’s dolls hair,
There are two types of European human hair and it is important not to get the two mixed up, the first is European Quality Hair, this is not actually from Europe, chances are this hair is from somewhere in Asia and is good quality but I would not expect it to last as long or look as good, when purchasing your extensions look at the pack as the fact that the hair is European Quality should be clearly stated,
European Hair is the type I always use, the hair is a good match and lasts for a long time if treated well, after my extensions have been in for around one month, I sometimes take them out, wash and treat them and then put them back in.
Virgin Hair is the best quality available, it will probably be from India, Brazil or native Americans but and this is a big BUT, there are big question marks around virgin hair nowadays as to whether it really is untreated by any chemicals and because of American import laws the hair will have to be sterilized, so if you are offered 100% virgin hair I would ask to see the documentation to prove it.
This type of dreadlock extension is also known as Remy or sometimes Remi, when the hair is cut care is taken that the strands all lay in the same direction as when they were growing on the head, this ensures that the hair does not tangle as the cuticles are all facing in the same direction, the strands would then be sewn on to a welt to prevent the hair being mixed up,
This has now turned into a massive worldwide industry and there is no shortage of information to be found on the subject as you can see from the how-to video below showing step by step methods and techniques of applying the hair.
There has been some discussion lately about the methods in which some human hair is obtained, it is not for me to decide if this is true or not.
