Men at work ahead of Durga Puja

Artisans from West Bengal have started making clay idols ahead of Durga Puja, at Chittaranjan Park in New Delhi.

The artisans sleep and eat at their makeshift workshop. The drill is intense, and the timing—moulding the clay, colouring the dried statues and clothing up the finished installations—has to be right. Any delay in one section could disturb the rest of the process. Missing the deadline—the first day of Durga Puja—is impossible.
