Brighton – UK Best Seaside Destination

Brighton – UK Best Seaside Destination

We had been saying for SO long that we wanted to visit Brighton but just never got round to it until October when we finally had a spare weekend and grabbed the opportunity to go. We had seen and heard so many good things about it and with it only being a few hours from home for us we decided to go on a little road trip!

Brighton Pier

We were so happy we visited because as soon as we got there we could see that it was going to be up there with our favourite Seaside places! Many seaside places in the UK can be very dated and in need of a good makeover but not Brighton, it’s such a modern, vibrant, unique and fun place.

We started off our visit at the Pier. After the travelling we were feeling pretty hungry so when we saw a stall selling donuts with Nutella how could we resist! So naughty but so delicious! The view from the pier is great and the sea is some of the clearest sea we have seen in the UK. There’s lots going on at the pier with arcades and fun fair rides.

Next we headed for a walk along the beach and loved wondering past all of the little beach huts selling all different unique things, not just the usual buckets and spades you would find in other seaside towns. We couldn’t have picked a better day to go for the weather in October, although it was cold the sun was shining the whole time we were there which was a massive bonus!

After this we decided we’d like to head into the town for a hot drink. There are so many little independent stores, cafes and restaurants in Brighton it’s so nice to wonder round checking them all out.

Earlier in the day whilst at the pier we’d seen a sign advertising a ‘Walk of the dead parade’ (it was Halloween when we visited) so after a good window shop and a coffee stop we headed back towards the pier to check this out. We had never seen anything like this before! There were lots of people dressed up in Halloween costumes ready for a parade around the pier! This is what we mean when we say that Brighton is very unique!!

Fish and chips is a MUST at the seaside and by this point we had worked up an appetite so stopped at a small restaurant along the beach that we had passed earlier on.

When driving into Brighton we passed the Royal Pavilion. This building is incredible! It looks so out of place as the Indo-Saracenic style looks as though it should belong in India! We knew we had to go back later in the day to take a good look at it so after food this is where we headed. The grounds of the Royal Pavilion are so nice to walk around and just take in the surroundings.

After a busy day in Brighton it was time for us to head home but we both wished we could spend more time there! We’ll definitely be taking a trip back there hopefully one day in the summer.

Let us know in the comments if you have visited Brighton before and what you got up to. We’d like to know if there was anything we missed that we should tick off the list when we visit again! Thanks.
