Amersfoort

Amersfoort is a city in the province Utrecht, and after the city it’s basically the major hub of the area. It’s a bit of a weird city, that once was very poor, only to experience a sudden boom in traffic and income once it became one of the central points of the country. When you enter the city through its train station you’ll be faced with a very modern city, but once you get to the city center you’re transported to a very quaint and cute little Dutch town, full of very pretty buildings and canals.

It’s a city that was asleep for many centuries, so you’ll see many buildings from the early seventeenth century, the beginning of the Dutch golden ages. They weren’t cleaned up as they were in some of the richer parts of the country. And today, the city is bursting with life. Many shops are thriving and it’s definitely worth a visit if you plan to delve deep into the country.
