We went a bit OTT on the final leg of our honeymoon and booked a semi-private Island in the Seychelles to chill out after almost two weeks in India

JA Enchanted Island Resort

We booked into this semi private island resort, which only had 10 villas spread across the small island. When we arrived we were met by the fantastic staff of the resort, given a drink and shown to our villa. It was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed! The staff were all extremely friendly and were on hand every day of our stay.

Things to do

Absolutely nothing! Most days we chilled by the pool or went down to our private beach, and we drank quite a lot!

Kayak  

We got a kayak one day to visit the next island which has an abandoned hotel on it (of course!). We debated walking up throughout the island and the hotel, but after a quick google search, we saw the hotel was abandoned about 8 years ago and thought better about walking on the wooden staircase. From there we headed across to the next island which was one of my favourite places!

Moyenne Island

We took our kayak to this little island which is now home to numerous giant tortoise. The history of the island was really fascinating – it was bought in the1960’s by an Englishman who worked to turn it into a nature park. He died in 2012 but his dog Yellow still lives on the island and loves when tourists come to visit! We walked around the small path on the outskirts of the island and found some stunning hidden beaches and coves before stopping off in the Jolly Roger bar for a drink (it only opens for a couple of hours a day to feed tour groups who stop by).

Mahe

We got a speedboat across to Mahe on one morning (we ran out of Jameson and needed to stock up!). We got a car for the day and decided to visit Victoria which is the capital city of the Seychelles – its extremely small and 30 minutes was enough time to explore the local market before heading off on a drive around the island. I wanted to stop at Turtle Cove, mainly for the turtles but we ended up driving past it and stopping in a little village for some lunch where we got to see the fresh seafood being brought into the restaurant.

Takamaka Distillery 

We couldn’t really go somewhere and not find a distillery! One of the main reasons we left our island was to visit this little rum distillery on the south of Mahe. We signed up for a tour of the distillery which is housed in what was a plantation. The surroundings are beautiful and we got to hear about how rum is made on the island. We got to try 5 different types of rum and pick up a couple of bottles for the trip home.
