Ángel Vásquez, The Lanzarote Tourism minister, was at the airport yesterday to greet passengers on the first Jet 2 Flight into Lanzarote since lockdown.
The first flight was from London Stansted and was quickly followed by other flights from Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds Bradford and Newcastle.
We had our first guests arrive since Lockdown on one of these Jet 2 flights, and they kindly wrote a summary of their experience........
"We arrived safe and sound. Leeds Bradford airport was very quiet with only 16 flights spread over the day.
Our flight was almost full with a mix of couples and families of all ages. Masks had to be worn at all times in the airport and during the flight.
Everyone was sensible about social distancing but on a plane that is nearly full that is quite difficult.
When we landed at Arrecife everyone cheered! All passports were checked on arrival and then QR codes* were scanned ( this was in the area where the toilets are so they were closed).
Then temperatures were checked and finally you were allowed to pick up baggage.
The area around each baggage collection belt was marked for social distancing which made things easier.
We picked up our hire car quite quickly and were soon on our way to Villa Antonio.
The Villa was as spotless as ever and the gardens are looking beautiful.
Thank you Lanza5star! **
Before long we were sipping a bottle of fizz by the pool and enjoying the setting sun.
Yet another relaxing stay at Villa Antonio...."
