Where did you Just Get Back from?

When were you there?

February 2017

Provide a 1-3 liner highlighting your experience!

Enjoying Maui’s true beauty at Big Beach with my family and friends while eating a local meal prepared by one of the many food trucks there.

Words to describe what you felt when you first arrived:

The Hotel employees welcomed us with a warm Aloha and we were presented with beautiful, fragrant leis. We were enchanted with the unique design of the hotel lobby with its many arches and fountains which gave it a Moroccan vibe.

Where did you stay?

Fairmont Kea Lani – I spent 8 nights at this beautiful property. Checking-in could not have been easier, the staff was quick, attentive and extra friendly to the kids by providing them with beach toys they could take home.

I stayed in a one bedroom suite with partial ocean view. The entryway had granite counter tops and was equipped with a safe, microwave, compact refrigerator, kettle and coffee maker with complimentary Keurig single cup coffee and Fairmont tea pods, which were replenished daily.

The living room was very spacious with a queen size sofa bed, flat screen TV, a writing desk and chairs. The bedroom had a king size bed, another flat screen TV and two wardrobe closets. For privacy, you were able to shut the doors which separated the bedroom from the living room. The lanai wrapped around the entire suite with access from both the living room and bedroom. The bathroom was extremely spacious with two pedestal sinks, large mirrors and plenty of space for your toiletries.

Especially worth mentioning: The comfort of the mattress and the coolness of the air conditioning allowed me to have some of the best night sleeps I have ever experienced at a hotel.

3 Bedroom Ocean front Villas – I had a chance to see this magnificent 2200 square foot Villa. As you enter, there are two rooms. The first is a large size king bedded room with an en-suite bathroom; and the second another nice size two queen bedded room. Another room holds an extremely large walk in closet. As you proceed downstairs, there is another master bedroom with a king bed and ensuite marble bathroom. The villa comes equipped with a washer and dryer in unit, full kitchen in case you want to prepare a meal or have the hotel arrange a private chef. The living room had a queen sized sofa bed for extra guests and a large TV. The ocean front lanai was just steps from the ocean and had its own plunge pool, lounge chairs, tables and a grill for an amazing barbeque. Amenities included in the nightly rate were valet parking, breakfast for up to six and complimentary fruit basket among others.

With whom would you recommend staying at this resort?

The size and space of the suites make the Fairmont Kea Lani a perfect option for families with children.

Tempt us: Name the most special place you discovered on this trip:

The Shops at Wailea, located two minutes away from the Kea Lani and the Four Seasons is full of restaurants, shops and lively atmosphere. Luxury brands such as Gucci, Prada, and Louis Vuitton are amongst the many shops to spend your money or simply window shop and dream…

What’s the best time of year to go in your opinion?

There is not a particularly “bad” time to visit Maui. Early mornings and evenings during the winter months can be cool, with perhaps a little rain and winds. Summer months tend to be drier and temperatures tend to be much warmer.

Anything else to add?

There are washing machines on each floor in case you need to do laundry.

The hotel celebrated its 25th anniversary by completing a $70 million dollar renovation. There is an abundance of restaurant options to choose from on property, but if you want to wander out, the hotel provides a complimentary shuttle which will take you to any restaurant or shopping center in the Wailea area.

Beach Cabanas rent for $199.00 for the entire day, but go down to $125.00 from noon on. They come equipped with fruit trays, ice water and soft drinks which are replenished throughout the day and can accommodate up to 4 lounge chairs.

There is an adult only pool for relaxation, but if you are traveling with children, the family pool with water slides is lots of fun and even has a swim up bar on the side of the pool.
