This April, Er. Deepanshu Jain, a Jaipur based Engineer, seemed to break all societal norms and sent out a very important message for all of us!
Over 60% of engineers remain unemployed after completing their degree and yet every Indian parent wishes for their kid to pursue nothing less than that! This is the story about on engineer who had a different vision altogether.
After getting his engineering degree when he felt that he wasn’t going to get a good placement – he decided to do something which was of his own interest. He enjoyed cooking, and hence decided to set up his own thela. Instead of being on the lookout for a job himself, he decided to become a job creator so he could create jobs for others. Within a month he hired two people!
The 23year old set up his thela in Lal-Kothi and cooks up some delicious frankies! He was an instant hit among the student fraternity! The name of his thela alone is sure to cause some curiosity! The thela is quite a hit with engineers of course! He started his venture with Rs. 10,000 along with a friend of his, who is currently studying Law. Deepanshu encourages cashless transactions and accepts Paytm too.
His parents were reluctant with the idea of him opening a thela, his relatives laughed at him too by saying – engineer hoke thela kholega and that is how he came up with the name – engineer ka thela! With his initial success, he feels confident and plans to open more branches and set up more thelas across the city, and one right in front of his college too to mock them!
This young boy has set the right example by demonstrating that no work is small or big – only our thinking can be small or big. Here’s hoping for supportive family and friends that encourage kids to pursue their passions and not push them into the mad rat ass of law, medicine, engineering etc.!
