Sri Lanka continues working on higher targets where the Tourism industry is concerned. Prospects for tourism in 2018 has topped the original amount of 2.5 million to a full 3 million! Tourist arrivals targets are said to rise to a total of 4 million for 2019.

The advertising campaign, “Island Escapes” began from the 15th of September this year. The campaign is intended at the 3 major markets for tourism; China, India and the Middle East as stated by the Minister of Tourism, John Amaratunga. The Ministry of Tourism has set aside a budget of 65 million for the first stage of the campaign. The general purpose of the entire promotion that has been planned is to make Sri Lanka a holiday destination operating 365 days of the year. This means that demand for bungalows in Kandy and other places located upcountry such as Dream Lodge and resorts down south is sure to rise in the coming years.
