Exploring Tea Estates in Nuwara Eliya

Set amidst stunning mountain landscapes, Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka is home to idyllic tea estates which you can tour and learn about the world-renowned Ceylon Tea.

Before you commence your tea estate tours, you should find suitable accommodation in Nuwara Eliya. Pedro Tea Estate

Pedro Tea Estate which is around 3.5 km from Nuwara Eliya is an ideal place to start. You can tour the plantation and watch as female tea pluckers expertly pick tea leaves; you may even ask to give it a try! At the factory, you can see how tea is processed, graded and packed and later, enjoy some refreshing tea.

Damro Labookellie Tea Factory

Nearly 16 km from Nuwara Eliya, the Damro Labookellie Tea Factory is also worth a visit. It’s one of the country’s oldest tea plantations and offers complete guided tours of tea fields and the tea factory. You can also try a professional tea tasting experience and don’t forget to visit its tea lounge to enjoy a cuppa.

Blue Field Tea Garden

About 28 km from Nuwara Eliya, the Blue Field Tea Garden can be found in the village of Ramboda. The estate features what is known as high grown tea and tours include walks amidst scenic plantations and factory visits; there’s an onsite tea lounge, restaurant and sales outlet to buy some tea to take back home.
