Renaissance Day in Oman – The Nation’s Newest Holiday

Oman is one of the most beautiful nations in the Middle East, and quite recently, the Sultanate of Oman officially have a new national Holiday, and it is called Renaissance Day.

The Holiday

July 23rd became a national holiday under the behest of the Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, to commemorate the Sultan’s ascension to power.

The Nature of the Holiday

Renaissance Day will be a public holiday, and all ministries and administrative departments of the government will be closed. Public authorities will also not be operation on this day. Many Oman hotel deals should also be available during this day, at hotels and resorts such as Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort.

Why the term ‘Renaissance’?

Renaissance essentially means ‘rebirth’, and the purpose of the holiday is to recognise and pay tribute to how the Sultan transformed the nation to what it is today.

The Sultan’s Accomplishments

Oman was a poorly developed country when the Sultan came into power in 1970, with little to no infrastructure, healthcare, and education systems. Only a total of six kilometres in the country had paved roads. Presently, Oman is considered a high-income economy and is ranked as the 70th most peaceful country in the world.
