Surfing in Maldives – If in Doubt, Paddle Out

Maldives is one of the few nations in the world that offers first class water sports. It could be a speedboat, a kayak or a surf board; Maldives is heaven on earth for water sports enthusiasts!

Surfing
Surfing is a great way to enjoy the beautiful Indian Ocean as well as to enjoy the most amazing views of the Maldives islands while indulging in the adrenaline rush.

Surfing periods
Flat water and a constant light wind from December to May are the ideal surfing conditions for beginners. Choppy seas during the south west monsoon from May to October are suited to advanced surfers. April to June is peak season as there are fairly consistent swells.

Where to surf
If you have chosen one of the top resorts in Maldives, such as the Niyama Private Islands Maldives, they will most likely have surfing instructors with plenty of experience to help even those who have just started surfing as well as to guide experienced surfers to enjoy the waves safely.

Windsurfing
This is also a surface water sport. The best way to enjoy the warm wind on the Indian Ocean is to head out with your windsurfing gear. Most hotels provide the necessary gear for windsurfing and kite surfing along with experienced guides.
