Hi! Tessa here. I’m a Junior Designer here at Scout Studios. We get questions all the time about what makes a good Coffee Table. And I’m here to give you a few quick easy ways to refresh a living space without having to tackle an entire overhaul. A coffee table is the perfect thing for a mix up because it takes center in gathering spaces and is much less daunting than a full room. Switching up your décor can change the dynamic of a room by having the details become the impact. Now styling a coffee can be a tricky thing when trying to find a balance of color, texture, shape, and scale. Let us help!
Here are some step by step recipes to make a perfectly cultivated coffee table.
The land of the living
A coffee table is the perfect place to bring in some natural textures through an indoor plant or a gorgeous bundle of flowers. Just make sure to keep in mind the scale of your arrangement, think simple accents, not room divider! Work with your lifestyle in mind when making your choice. Flower arrangements allow you to mix up styles and easily change with the seasons, and indoor plants are easy to maintain.

Some words to the wise
Books, books, and more books help bring some culture and depth to any layered coffee table. For a chic minimalist approach, just opening one book to a significant page and having it displayed thoughtfully will bring a touch of warmth while keeping clean lines throughout the space. For your inner love of maximalism (Hoarders Unite!) stack dozens of coffee table books and fill the space with your interests for guest to enjoy.
Do you have a large coffee table or a multitude of Knick knacks to display? Trays will help divide and conquer. Provide a base for your décor on your coffee table by arranging it meaningfully. When in doubt, go with odd numbered groups!
Let’s get Quirky
This is your space, show your personality! Add one or more unique items to make a presence. The right piece will relate your lifestyle to your interior style. You can either make one large statement and keep it bold or for a simple coffee table a one of a kind item can relay some of your character. Whichever you choose, remember to never take design too seriously!
