Prepare Your Marketing and Proofread Your Postcard

I got a nice looking Postcard in the mail recently. It advertised a car service to the airport. It is something I’d consider as it could be less expensive than parking on a long trip. There was even a coupon offering a discount.

If you don’t see the problem, look again. So in order to get the discount, I have to wear a costume? And how would they know if it was the first time I’d worn a costume? Obviously they misspelled the word “customers”. After seeing this, I looked at the rest of the text on the postcard and this was the only word spelled wrong.

Before you send anything to the printer, make sure to Proofread it carefully! It is also a good idea to have at least one other person proofread it, especially someone who is really picky about this kind of stuff.

Now I’ve blacked out the Web address and Phone Number as my goal isn’t to embarrass the company. But as a Web designer, I was very curious to see their Web Site. So I was very surprised to be greeted by the graphic below.

under-construction

I’m pretty sure this company has been around for several years as the name was not new to me. And even if their site had undergone an overhaul, it isn’t a good idea to do a mail campaign if the Web site isn’t ready. I’m going to assume their phone number works as I don’t want to call them without a need for their service. Then again, maybe I should call to see if I can help them with their Web site.
