Top 100 Fonts.com Web Fonts for March 2016

The Linotype Didot® typeface commands the 28th position on last month’s Top 100 Web Fonts list. This is a design that is more than a medium of graphic communication – it’s also an object of artistic delight. Although, at a casual glance, it may look like another interpretation of the Bodoni type style, Didot has a particularly elegant and sophisticated disposition. A close examination reveals many differences between the two typefaces. The most obvious is that the weight transitions of Didot are more dramatic than those of Bodoni and, its serifs have no bracketing. Translating the delicate shapes and fine hairlines of late 18th century engraved letters into fonts of type, Didot fonts are quintessential neoclassical designs. One word of caution, however, when using Didot in interactive design projects: its stylish demeanor is best portrayed in larger sizes.

The Linotype Didot family is available in regular and bold weights, each with a harmonizing italic design, in addition to a headline version, an open face design and a suite of graphic ornaments.
