What Is The Cheapest Brick

Tags: brick

One of the most sought after building material is Brick. Bricks provide a classic home exterior that has a timeless look and substantial visual appeal. On average, a 2000 sq.ft house would require top-quality bricks in the region of $12,000 to $22,000.

Again, brick is a timeless material. It doesn’t matter if you pair it with other materials or if it is alone, brick will maintain its characteristics for a long time.

Brick is durable, visually appealing, timeless, and requires low maintenance. The only drawback is that it is expensive. But the services and benefits you get from any brick structure outweigh any initial cost. Mind you, irrespective of its age, bricks still hold a substantial monetary value. In fact, the older they are, the more valuable they become.

Should the opportunity present itself to sell your bricked property, you won’t be short of buyers.

Average Cost of bricks

Prices are not constant and are affected by several factors such as quality of material, brick type, color, production process, etc. For each square foot, face brick costs around $6-$10. For a bulk purchase, your budget for 1000 bricks should be between $400 and $900. Over time, the value for 1000 solid bricks has hovered between $500 to $600.

A pallet of bricks has around 510 to 520 pieces of bricks. If you are building a wall, you would require 7 bricks per square foot. In terms of cost, extruded brick (which is made via a mold) is the cheapest and popular. On the other side of the price scale, hand made bricks are costlier.

Another factor that affects the price is the color. Mind you, from the brick production process, the final color is determined by how the brick is fired.

Bricks fired by hand in beehive kilns are the most expensive because they have the most robust and attractive colors. At the same time, those fired mechanically n commercial kilns are less costly.

The texture of bricks is another factor that contributes to the price. Thin brick (brick veneer) is the most expensive brick in terms of texture. It costs between $7 to $9 per square foot. Meanwhile, building brick is the cheapest option. You will recognize this brick because of the holes present, which help to save material and cost. The average price of the brick is 0.55-0.75 cents for one.

In your overall costing, you still have to account for labor costs. Contractors usually charge between $25 to $35 per hour for installation. Overall, you are looking at around $2500 to $3500 in labor cost for 1000 Sq ft of installation.
