Volcanic Boulders and lichen are plentiful in Iceland, in fact we, the locals, don’t give them much attention. In the midst of this Covid-19 epidemic that has affected most of the world we live in, I started taking short walks with my wife, just to get some fresh air. One day I grabbed my camera with me and decided to look for something interesting to shoot.

Usually I have to drive to the outskirt of town to find something worthwhile. But these rocky hills were only a few hundred yards from my house. I went up close and shot the abstract alien surfaces of the rocks. There were plenty of great boulders to go around, and the lichen fungus had some interesting shapes for me to work with.

In post production I added some vintage coloring and played around with sharpness and exposure. I didn’t want to go overboard with the editing, so I left them feeling organic and natural. I hope you like them and can put them to good use. Until next time, take care.
