It’s no secret that we love pasta, and with so many shapes, sizes and varieties we never get bored. But every so often, we like to shake things up a bit and head over to the cheese and hummus section of our local TJ’s and pick up a new flavor of tortellini to try. There’s always something fun to discover!

This time we tried the Spinach Tortellini, and there’s a lot to love about these guys.

First off, they cook up super quickly, and they’re tightly made – they don’t fall apart easily while they boil. They’re also well portioned with a good ratio of wrapper to filling.

As for the flavor, they were well rated and we appreciated the smooth spinach flavor paired with the subtle mix of cheeses.

As for dressing, they held up very well with a simple butter sauce, but were even more delicious when tossed in heavy red sauce for more body, texture and flavor complexity.

These Spinach Tortellinis from Trader Joe’s have earned a spot on our shopping list, and we look forward to sampling and reviewing more varieties soon. Enjoy!
