Kitchen Wisdom Gluten Free Mortadella Poppers are a scrumptious appetizer and so easy to make! I created this fusion just for fun. I had some Mortadella a bit of cream cheese and just a few jalapenos in the fridge and I thought to myself – “it would have to taste good.” And it does! Always check to be sure the mortadella you have purchased is gluten free and be wary of deli slicers as they are a large source of cross contact with gluten proteins from previously sliced food.
Yields 8 appetizers
¼ pound superthin slices of gluten free Mortadella
1 ½ ounces Cream Cheese (or Neufchatel cheese)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Slice jalapeños in half. Remove seeds. Use a teaspoon to spoon and pack cream cheese into halved jalapeños. Wrap the mortadella around the cream cheese jalepeno. If the Mortadella is superthin – use 2 slices to wrap. If the Mortadella is thicker, use 1 slice.
Bake for 20 minutes.
