Potato fry (Aloo Fry) is one of my favorite recipes, I think everyone likes potato but due to deep frying, it gives high calories that’s why people avoiding aloo. But for kid’s growth it plays a prominent role so for your children you must prepare this recipe. According to this potato fry recipe depending upon your health consciousness here, I boiled potato without deep frying. Even your kids are like this recipe a lot. Here I made this aloo fry in a traditional way, from my childhood I am having this recipe I like a lot along with rice by adding a dollop of ghee hmm…soo….yummy… Even it is good as a side dish while having chapathi’s, roti, pulka, etc.

It is mostly prepared in Andhra Pradesh state. Even you can also add more masala powders for better taste but here i prepared a basic boiled potato fry.After my marriage when i cooked this aloo fry at the first time my family members praises me a lot. Everyone must try this recipe and tell me your opinions as comments..

Ingredients for potato fry:-

  • Potato- ½ kg
  • Onions- 2
  • Salt as required
  • Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  • Coriander leaves (optional)

For tempering:-

  • Oil- 3 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
  • Urad dal- 1 tsp
  • Chana dal- 1 tsp
  • Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp
  • Few curry leaves
  • Red chilies- 2

For masala Preparation:-

  • Green chilies- 5 to 7
  • Fresh coconut- ½ cup
  • Ginger- 1 inch

Steps to prepare Potato fry:-

  1. Initially take a fresh coconut, ginger, green chilies, required amount of salt into a blender, and make the masala paste. Keep it aside.
  2. Now boil potatoes in a pressure cooker by adding 500 ml water and required salt. After boiling potatoes peel and make medium pieces later keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a wide-bottomed pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, chana dal, dry red chilies mix it after spluttering mustard seeds add curry leaves again mix it.
  4. Add onions into it cook until onions become translucent.  Now add boiled potatoes, turmeric powder mix it well.
  5. Finally add masala paste again mix it close the lid, cook it on low flame for 10 mins.
  6. By garnishing coriander leaves and serve Boiled Potato Fry with hot….. hot… rice along with a dollop of ghee….
