Review Summary: We had high hopes, but sadly we were disappointed with this Gravy. The thyme and tarragon were far too overpowering for it to be enjoyable.
Full Review:
While we love the taste of homemade gravy, sometimes time isn’t on our side. Last year, we opted for TJ’s boxed gravy and it left us satisfied, but craving a bit more of a home-cooked flavor. This year, when we saw this “Kettle Cooked” option, we were definitely intrigued.
Unfortunately though, we were disappointed with this gravy. Overall it was too herbaceous – the thyme and tarragon were far too overpowering. It resulted in a one-dimensional flavor that actually seemed to mask the taste of the turkey – as opposed to complementing it.
We tested this gravy along with several side dishes for our Test Thanksgiving dinner: Corn Pudding, Scalloped Potatoes with Quattro Formaggio, Cauliflower Gratin, Carrot Souffle, and Cornbread Stuffing Mix. The result was a delicious meal, but sadly the gravy was a weak point.
