This is one of those recipes I make all of the time. I love to serve Mushrooms sautéed in garlic butter over a steak or as a side dish. I always have made them without a recipe, so I can’t really say how I was inspired to make this dish. However, I will say that I see similar dishes in steak houses across the country.

In my version of garlic mushrooms, I use whatever mushroom I happen to have on hand. Wild mushrooms add more flavor, but the recipe is also good with plain old button mushrooms you can find at any grocery store. The mushrooms in the photos are shiitake.

After slicing the mushrooms, I sauté them in butter (although ghee or another oil could be used). I don’t go lightly on the butter here. A good swim in some butter brings out the flavor in the mushrooms! I prefer to use grass-fed butter to add some omega-3 fatty acids to the meal, but any butter will work for the recipe.

In addition to the butter, I use garlic to add even more flavor. Garlic just makes everything better. Finally, I add a pinch of red pepper flakes to give the dish a bit of a zing. To top it all off, a sprinkle of parsley adds some color  and a bit of an herbal note. The final result will make any mushroom lover happy.

This Garlic Mushrooms Recipe works perfectly spooned over a good steak or as a side dish to most meats. If you have leftovers, use them in an omelette the next day. Delicious! Enjoy!
