Basan Pakora Kadhi

This is a tantalizingly sour dahi kadhi prepared with besan, curd and delicious besan pakora. This dish is rich in its flavors, as it uses quite a few spices and the pakoras added to it make it irresistible. The kadhi pakora recipe .


For Kadhi:

  • Gram flour 3 to 4 teaspoon
  • Water 1 cup
  • Yogurt (sour) 1 cup
  • Onion finely sliced 2 tbs (optional)
  • Fenugreek leaves 1 tsp (optional)
  • Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp (optional)
  • Whole red chilies 6-8
  • Cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves 6-8 ( to taste)
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 1 tsp or to taste
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste

For Pakora:

  • Gram flour 6 to 8tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • Red chili powder 1 Tsp
  • Green chilies chopped 1-2
  • Coriander leaves 2 tbs
  • Water as required
  • Onion finely sliced 1
  • Potato 2 finely cut
  • Oil for frying

Fo Tarka:

  • Oil ½ cup
  • Onion sliced 2 tbs (optional)
  • Cumin seeds ½ tsp
  • Whole red chilies 4-6


  1. In a blender, add gram flour, red chili powder, yogurt, salt, turmeric powder, garlic, one cup of water and blend until smooth.
  2. In a pot, add this mixture on low to medium flame, add 1 and a half cup of water or as the needed cook until thickness.
  3. Mix gram flour, red chili powder, baking soda, green chilies, salt, potato, onion and green coriander in a bowl. Add water in small quantities and mix well to form the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a wok, with a spoon, drop the pakora batter in the oil.
  5. Fry them until medium brown and crispy.
  6. Add deeply fried pakora in kadhi mixture, mix and stir well. Cook for 3-4 minutes and set aside.
  7. Heat oil in fry pan, add onion and saute little.
  8. Add cumin seeds and whole red chilies sauté for few seconds.
  9. Add tarka in pakora khadi mixture.

Serve the kadhi hot with steamed rice and naan
