- Preheat the waffle iron and grease it with a little coconut oil.
- In a bowl, add the dry ingredients whole wheat flour, baking powder, salt, cocoa powder and mix them thoroughly.
In another bowl, pour all the wet ingredients coconut oil, sweetener, vegan milk, food colour, and vanilla extract, and mix thoroughly using a whisk.
- Add dry mix to the wet mix and stir well until the batter is thick but flowing.
Scoop batter into each section of the waffle iron and level off evenly.
- Close the iron and cook it for around 3-4 minutes, until the waffle turns deep red and crisp on the outside. Use remaining batter for more waffles.
Serve the waffles hot with your favourite toppings of fruits and nuts and drizzle them with maple syrup, whipped cream, etc.
