DIY Bread

No Bread? No problem. This versatile recipe means you can make your own soft tortillas and wraps with three ingredients in ten minutes.

DIY BreadTotal time: 10 mins
  • 1 tbsp. self raising flour
  • ½ tbsp. natural Greek yoghurt
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tbsp. cooking oil
  • Extra flour for rolling
  1. Mix the flour, yoghurt and salt together to form a dough then let it stand for at least five minutes.
  2. Sprinkle a little flour on a clean work surface and on your rolling pin. Hint: if you don’t have a rolling pin you can use a wine bottle.
  3. Roll the dough out to the appropriate thickness for the bread you are making; thin for wraps and tortillas, thick for an accompaniment for dips and curries. (I’ll be giving the recipe for the hot pink vegan curry pictured next week.)
  4. Heat the oil in a skillet until it is rippling.
  5. Fry the bread on both sides until it is golden brown and puffy then serve.
  6. Feel free to add flavour to your bread using herbs or spices. My favourites are caraway or fennel seeds.
