Ronnie James DeRenzo is 11 years old when the older hippie brother of his friend Roy Voorhees offers to take the two kids to a Music festival in upstate New York. His father, an original rocker going back to his days of "race music" in the Navy gives his permission. But Roy's mother knows better and absolutely forbids it.
