Ironic

Donald Trump appears in cameo in several places in Book Two : The Ocean, which is part of Rock and Roll Love Story: The Two Volume set.

Please keep in mind that this book was first written about December 2001 and it was first published in 2010, which was long before our 45th president ever became involved in Republican politics. When I first set down the storyline in 2001, The Donald was still a Democrat and he was principally known as a brash, successful, relatively young business tycoon who was well known for making big deals.

I used to talk about politics quite a bit in the old blogs for my novels but almost eight years ago I decided that my potential readers in the new blog were both liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans and they really didn't want to hear about it either way from me.

An operative for Mitt Romney misunderstood the alleged politics of Ronnie James DeRenzo and started blogging for the governor during his campaign for president in my name. I had to shoot that down hard and fast -- Ronnie James DeRenzo is more of populist and nationalist than anything else and he certainly is not a Republican. He's not a Democrat either for that matter.

I would describe Rocket's politics as far left, far right and radical middle; an Independent who rails against the Establishment of both major political parties. In a way, his appearance in print actually forseshadowed the rise of Donald Trump as an alternative voice in American politics.

I'm not going to break my vow and tell you what I really think of President Trump. The only thing I will say is that I am an ardent support of comprehensive, universal health coverage for all Americans and unfortunately all the Republican plans submitted in Congress so far fall terribly short what I believe is a guarantee of that basic, fundamental, human right of every American.

I have my own ideas on how to get there and I will keep that to myself as well.
