Stacking The Shelves: Week 34

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books we are adding to our shelves, whether they be physical or Digital. This includes physical books bought, digital books downloaded, and those titles received for review.

Review Titles

A trio of review titles this week, courtesy of St. Martin's Press, Tor Books, and Orbit Books!

TRUE RAIDERS is The Lost City of Z meets The Da Vinci Code, from critically acclaimed author Brad Ricca. This book tells the untold true story of Monty Parker, a British rogue nobleman who, after being dared to do so by Ava Astor, the so-called "most beautiful woman in the world," headed a secret 1909 expedition to find the fabled Ark of the Covenant. Like a real-life version of Raiders of the Lost Ark, this incredible story of adventure and mystery has almost been completely forgotten today.

THE BONE SHARD DAUGHTER is an unmissable debut from Andrea Stewarta major new voice in epic fantasy — a stunning tale of magic, mystery, and revolution in which the former heir to the emperor will fight to reclaim her power and her place on the throne.

New Acquisitions: Paperback Treasures

Just a handful of new purchases this week...

Mad Ship is the second book in The Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb; my first literary encounter with Sarah MacLean, Bomb Shell is the start of her "blazingly sexy, unapologetically feminist" new series, Hell’s Belles; and Knight or Knave is the second book in The Cycle of Oak, Yew, Ash, and Rowan by Andre Norton and Sasha Miller.

New Acquisitions: Digital Titles

A pair of digital downloads this week...

The Calyx Charm is a book I sadly missed out on as a review title because it was part of a series, but by May Peterson assured me that while it does draw on the first book a bit, it totally can be read as a standalone.

I thoroughly enjoyed the short stories I've read of D'Angel's short stories, so I splurged on his pansexual alpha vampire erotic fairytale novel, The Fallen Star.
