Stephen King’s The Dark Tower – The Complete Concordance

Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, The Complete Concordance, Robin Furth, Stephen King, Stephen King Books, Stephen King Store
Written by Stephen King’s research assistant, Robin Furth, Stephen King’s The Dark Tower – The Complete Concordance is an encyclopaedic reference book that provides readers of The Dark Tower Series with all the background information they could ever need and a wonderfully rich and entertaining source of information that will help the reader understand the finer points of Stephen King’s epic story.

Much of the content that is contained in Stephen King’s The Dark Tower – The Complete Concordance was originally written to help  Stephen King avoid any continuity errors as he wrote the Dark Tower books. It was Stephen King who decided that the work that Robin Furth had compiled was so good and so useful that it should be published as a reference book for his Constant Readers.

While the Dark Tower Concordance may not be a book that you would sit down and read cover to cover, it is an excellent and very entertaining companion book for the Dark Tower series, especially for die-hard fans of the Dark Tower series who want to gain a better understanding of the events in the book, the characters, and the interconnected worlds that they inhabit.

The first volume of the concordance was released in 2003, and that first volume covered the Dark Tower books from The Gunslinger to Wizard and Glass. A second volume was released in 2005, which covered the story from Wolves of the Calla to The Dark Tower. When The Wind through the Keyhole was released in 2012, Robin Furth added new material from that last book, brought the two earlier volumes of the concordance together, and published the new Stephen King’s The Dark Tower – The Complete Concordance.

The Dark Tower Complete Concordance is the definitive guide to Stephen King’s Dark Tower books. In this book, you will find everything from maps to the connections to other Stephen King works. The concordance includes:

  • -Characters and Genealogies
  • -Magical Objects and Forces
  • -Mid-World and Our World Places
  • -Portals and Magical Places
  • -Mid-, End-, and Our World Maps
  • -Timeline of the Dark Tower Series
  • -Mid-World Dialects
  • -Mid-World Rhymes, Songs, and Prayers
  • -Political and Cultural References
  • -References to Stephen King’s Own Work

If you are a big fan of Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, then this is a book that you will definitely enjoy and a book that you will get a lot out of. If you have never read a single Stephen King Dark Tower book before, on the other hand, then this book really won’t be for you.

The other thing to bear in mind about the concordance is that, if you haven’t yet read all the books in the Dark Tower series, the concordance is going to drop more than a few spoilers on you if you read it before you have finished all the books in the Dark Tower Series.

Stephen King’s The Dark Tower – The Complete Concordance is a book to look things up in, it’s a book that you can use for reference purposes. But, as entertaining as it is to read, it is not a book that has been written to be read as a standalone work. It would, however, make a great gift for a Stephen King fan who loves the Dark Tower Series.
