Published in 1977, The Shining was Stephen King’s third full length novel and it is the book that was adapted to film for the iconic Stanley Kubrick horror movie of the same name that starred Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall.
Although Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining film and Stephen King’s The Shining novel are quite different and the film version of The Shining is not one of Stephen King’s favourite adaptations of his own work, the film version of The Shining is now considered to be horror classic.
