Review of Echoes of Fire by Suzanne Wright

After most of his family was killed in an attack by extremists, Bracken Slater got his revenge and now he’s thinking of leaving the Mercury Pack for a while in Echoes of Fire. After another attack, he realizes that pallas cat shifter, Madisyn Drake, is his Mate and everything changes for him. Now, his only concern is convincing a reluctant Madisyn that she should take a chance with him. But Madisyn has other issues to deal with right now. A bear shifter Alpha wants to know where a runaway female went to and Madisyn knows where she is, but she’s not going to tell. A showdown is coming and it Madisyn is in the middle of it.

This was the fourth Mercury Pack story and it was another enjoyable one. You have to feel for Bracken, who had his own nephew die in his arms. He’s had a lot of loss in his life. But so has Madisyn, who lost both of her parents when she was young and ended up in the foster care system. The shifter shelter is important to her and that’s how she ends up hiding a bear shifter from an abusive Alpha. Together, Bracken and Madisyn are pretty awesome. She doesn’t submit easily, but for Bracken she will. Because he’s her Mate and her cat trusts him. For anyone else though? Watch the claws!
