I’m reading The Great Game of Business. Brandy recommended it. It’s been around for over 20 years, but it’s finally made it way in my hands. About 45 pages into it, I stumbled on this sentence:
Nobody wants a JOB.
That is so true. Jobs suck!
Growing businesses, innovating, learning, starting things, shaping minds, taking ownership, dreaming what ifs, being a part of something bigger than ourselves, fighting an injustice, Growing a community, pushing a cause forward; personally I believe that’s what we all want more of in our lives.
When I was in my College years, I worked as a waitress at many different places (I think this should be mandatory for all college students by the way), and it made me so very aware that my actions could affect the amount of money I made. If I was focused and kind and interested in the people I was serving, I could make way more money in tips.
In some ways when you wait tables for a living you’re a small business of one.
Simple concept but it stirred in me this idea of working like an owner. And it stuck with me until I actually became a business owner.
Now I Expect that same spirit from everyone at Brains on Fire. I expect everyone to work as if they own the company. We share numbers and profits and are working everyday to help our this remarkable tribe understand how our business and how our client’s businesses work on a very deep level.
How can you act as if you own the company today?
What would you do different if you did really did own the company you work for?
What if you never had to have a JOB again?
